IFC Viewer Privacy Policy
Effective date: 3 August 2026
About IFC Viewer
IFC Viewer is a BIM and IFC model viewing application for iPhone, iPad and Mac. It allows users to import, inspect, analyse and export information from supported IFC files.
Information we collect
IFC Viewer does not require an account and does not operate its own user database.
The app does not use:
- Advertising networks
- Third-party analytics services
- Cross-app tracking
- Tracking cookies
- Third-party cloud AI services
IFC files and model data
IFC files selected by the user are processed locally by the app. IFC models are not uploaded to a remote model-processing service.
Imported files may be copied into app-controlled storage so they can be opened and processed reliably. Files may also remain available through a storage provider selected by the user, such as iCloud Drive, Google Drive or OneDrive. Those providers operate under their own privacy policies.
The app only shares or exports model information when the user explicitly chooses an export or sharing action.
On-device Apple AI
Some IFC Viewer features may use Apple Foundation Models on supported devices and operating systems.
These features are optional and use Apple’s on-device model availability where supported. Availability may depend on the device, operating system, language, region and Apple Intelligence configuration.
IFC Viewer does not send IFC models to a third-party cloud AI provider and does not require an external AI API key.
Diagnostics
The app may provide user-controlled diagnostic or troubleshooting information to help identify import, rendering or performance issues.
Diagnostics are designed to avoid recording raw IFC contents. They may include technical information such as file size, import stages, rendering milestones, cache status, operating-system version and error categories.
Diagnostic information is not automatically uploaded to the developer. It is only shared when the user deliberately exports or sends it.
External services
Some optional features may perform a user-initiated lookup against an external classification or reference service, such as buildingSMART Data Dictionary services.
These lookups are separate from IFC model processing and do not upload the user’s complete IFC model. Any external service used is subject to its own privacy policy and availability.
In-app purchases
IFC Viewer offers optional non-consumable in-app purchases through Apple’s App Store.
These may include:
- Individual purchases for IFC Viewer Pro Tools
- An optional Unlock All purchase covering all available Pro Tools
Purchases are processed by Apple. IFC Viewer does not receive or store the user’s payment-card details.
Users can use the Restore Purchases function to restore eligible previous purchases associated with their Apple Account.
Apple may process transaction, account and payment information according to Apple’s own privacy policy and App Store terms.
Data retention
Files, cached model data, settings and exported reports may remain on the user’s device until the user deletes them, removes the model, clears related app data or uninstalls the app.
Files stored through iCloud Drive or another provider may also remain subject to that provider’s storage and retention settings.
Children’s privacy
IFC Viewer is not designed to collect personal information from children. The app does not knowingly collect personal data from children under the applicable minimum age in their country or region.
Security
IFC Viewer uses Apple platform security features, application sandboxing and user-selected file permissions. No software can guarantee absolute security, but the app is designed to minimise unnecessary data access and keep IFC processing local.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when IFC Viewer features, platform capabilities or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when material changes are published.
